Spinal AVM

An abnormal tangle of vessels in or around the spinal cord — rare and treatable.
In brief
  • An abnormal tangle of arteries and veins involving the spinal cord
  • Can cause bleeding or progressive neurological decline
  • Rare, but important to diagnose early
  • Diagnosed on MRI and spinal angiography
  • Treated by embolisation, surgery, or a combination, though sometimes simply observed
A detailed information sheet on Spinal AVM is currently being prepared. In the meantime, Mr Russell welcomes the opportunity to discuss your diagnosis and treatment options with you.
