Pituitary Tumours

Tumours of the pituitary gland — usually benign, and often treatable through the nose.
In brief
  • Arise from the pituitary gland at the base of the brain
  • Almost always benign; some overproduce hormones, others press on nearby structures
  • Can affect vision, hormones and energy
  • Diagnosed with MRI and blood hormone tests
  • Treated with medication, or removal via endoscopic transsphenoidal (through-the-nose) surgery
